The Lake Forest Group Founder and CEO G. Michael Verden supports our clients based on a 40-year career in law enforcement as a police officer and federal agent, and as a security consultant.
A security assessment ensures that physical, technical, procedural, and personnel security measures are working together to protect your organization. That means your access control system, cameras, fire alarms, duress buttons, and other technical security devices are aligned with physical security measures like doors, locks, gates, and fences—and that these security disciplines are supported by trained security professionals and policies and procedures that prioritize security.
As it establishes a security foundation, a customized security assessment identifies what you have and what you need to protect your people on a daily basis, evaluates risk by addressing a wide range of areas, including, but not limited to, those below, and offers strategic considerations to improve your security environment. If you don’t currently have these capabilities in place, we can offer best practice based options to build your programs.

An EMP safeguards your people when the unexpected happens at your location. We can use what we learn in an assessment to determine how to address the four phases of emergency management as supported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS): prevention/ mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. A clear, comprehensive, and detailed EMP focuses on these four phases and their critical emergency-related priorities to protect against all hazards including natural (weather), accidental (power outages), and criminal (active assailant). Your EMP will be customized specifically to the circumstances of the emergency and tailored to your property. We’ll also coordinate with local first responders so they are familiar with your location before they are called to respond to an emergency there.

The Lake Forest Group provides fully-customized investigative services including background screening, due diligence, executive search, financial crimes, domestic violence, stalking, workplace violence, theft, injury, insurance claims, harassment, and discrimination, among others.
Investigations are initially conducted discreetly, and, through public records and open sources. The focus is to identify areas of concern or potentially adverse information such as prior arrests and criminal history, signs of wealth or financial stress, possible associates or prior incidents of concern. We also focus on identifying additional investigative leads to flesh out around reported assets (or debt) we identify. To that end, we conduct a search and review of the following:
• Criminal records (relevant federal and state-level jurisdictions);
• Civil litigation records (relevant federal and state-level jurisdictions), focused on identifying previous contract, employment or financial issues;
• Employment history, including identifying gaps or discrepancies in previous employment (given they are laborers this might be hard to find);
• Financial stress and debt (bankruptcy filings and tax liens);
• Major assets including real property and vehicles
• Targeted social and professional networking sites, blogs, websites and the Internet, with a focus on identifying travel, notable spending and purchases and other signs of financial status; and,
• Local and national media, trade and specialty press, with a focus on identifying potentially adverse or notable information.
